Oznaka 4x4 seveda pomeni štirikolesni pogon. Tega sicer izbere dokaj majhen odstotek kupcev Kuge (še zlasti pri nas), a ga zato pri Fordu niso prav nič zanemarili. V primerjavi s prejšnjo generacijo so sicer ohranili zasnovo (večploščna elektronsko nadzirana sklopka), so pa prav elektronsko podporo precej izboljšali.
